GEORGIA WOOD-FIRED POTTERY

NEXT AT OLOGY!

Georgia Wood-Fired Pottery is a celebration of an ancient ceramic tradition and the dedicated Georgia potters who continue to keep it alive. Rooted in time-honored techniques, wood firing embraces fire, ash, and chance as active collaborators in the creative process. The resulting works bear rich surfaces, natural ash glazes, and subtle markings that speak to both the kiln’s intensity and the maker’s hand. This exhibition brings together contemporary practitioners from across the state, honoring a shared commitment to patience, craftsmanship, and community while showcasing the enduring beauty and relevance of wood-fired ceramics in the modern South.

CHICKEN FROM THE EGG

FEATURED WORKSHOP!

Ever wonder what came first? In this fun and beginner-friendly workshop, we start with a large wheel-thrown clay egg and show you how to transform it into your own chicken or rooster. Each bird develops its own personality as you shape feathers, beaks, combs, and tails. We’ll be working with a blend of Clayer white clay and regional Lizella clay—the famous red dirt clay of Middle Georgia—giving each piece a unique Southern character.

Whether you’re brand new to clay or just looking for a creative evening, you’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind feathered friend and a few laughs along the way. No experience required. All materials, glazing, and firing included. Come crack an egg and make a chicken with us!
